Olena Moskvichenko was forced to leave her native Luhansk region twice because of the war. The first time was in 2014. Then the woman lived for some time in Kremenchuk in Poltava region, but later returned home.
In early 2022, on the eve of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Olena again came to the Dnieper city - this time to give birth to a child. Due to active hostilities, she was no longer able to return home.
The loss of her home and family business forced her to look for new opportunities and start everything from scratch.
Currently, in Kremenchuk, Olena and her husband are developing a new line of business - the production of natural extruded dog food and cereals and natural bait for fishing. The couple managed to adapt to the host community and not only start their own business, but also support others. They employed two internally displaced women.
We continue to showcase the stories of resilience, perseverance, and endurance of the winners of the WIWAT (Women's Initiatives Work Adamant and Thoughtfully).
The project is implemented by the Light of Hope NGO with the technical support of UN Women in Ukraine and funding from the UN Women's Peace and Humanitarian Fund (WPHF), a flexible and operational funding instrument that supports quality interventions to enhance the capacity of local women to prevent conflicts, respond to crises and emergencies, and utilize key peacebuilding opportunities.
