Svitlana and Georgy, who met and fell in love at the Adaptation Center for the Homeless and Released from Prisons of the "Light of Hope" NGO, purchased an apartment for themselves.

“We bought a house near Poltava. This is a summer residence, now we will have a house and a yard. Everything is officially formalized,” says Georgy with pride.

They became homeowners last December. But unfortunately, they couldn't move in right away. The yard and house were cluttered. But Heorhiy wasn't intimidated by this challenge:

"The area was all overgrown. We had to cut down more than 20 trees. They took out the trash all day. No one had lived there for a long time."

They have now managed to renovate one room in the house. That is where the couple plans to live and continue to furnish the other rooms.

The couple met five years ago. Both Svitlana and Georgy will soon reach retirement age. Therefore, they dreamed of their own home so as not to hang around in rented apartments.

“It’s like living on a powder keg all the time. Today the owners set one condition, tomorrow another. And now just the word “home” makes my heart feel so warm. I can’t describe these emotions. Home…”, Svitlana shares her feelings.

The woman works at the Adaptation Center. Georgy is engaged in renovations of premises. He knows that materials are not cheap. That is why the couple decided to move, and over time to complete the renovation of the house. Now this is their new dream, which they will fulfill together.

Together with the husband and wife, their cat Boatswain, who they sheltered when they didn't have their own home, is moving into their new home.

The activities of the Adaptation Center for the Homeless and Those Released from Prison are carried out with the support of the program of social security and social protection of the population of the Poltava Urban Territorial Community "Turbota".
