Should one work hard, gain experience, and build a career gradually—or perhaps achieve success quickly, earning a good income right from the start with few strings attached? For young people seeking employment, the latter option often appears more attractive. However, before making a choice, it is crucial to learn how to distinguish between truly unique job opportunities and traps that lead to labor exploitation.
October 18th marks European Anti-Trafficking Day. To mark the occasion, prevention trainers from the charitable organization "Svitlo Nadiyi" ("Light of Hope") held information sessions for young people in Reshetylivka, Poltava, and Kozelshchyna.
Human trafficking takes several forms, including sexual exploitation, forced begging, and forced marriage or adoption. The meetings focused on the most common form: labor exploitation.
The trainers discussed the manipulation tactics used by human traffickers for recruitment, methods for vetting a prospective employer, and criteria for analyzing job vacancies.
"Human traffickers employ a modern approach when targeting young people. This typically involves online communication, where carefully chosen phrases and the ability to deliberate on the next move are key to successfully luring victims into a trap. Nowadays, this is also a common method used to draw them into criminal activity," noted trainer Kateryna Berezhna.
If, however, you could not avoid being deceived, you should seek help.
