Tetyana Kovalenko moved from Kharkiv to the Valkivska community due to a full-scale invasion. At first, the woman was confused: life had changed dramatically and she needed to find support. But later she realized: she had to start with what she did best. So, Tetyana advertised her services as a masseuse in the community and that's how she got her first clients.
She has no plans to return to her hometown yet, primarily to avoid putting her daughter in danger. Therefore, the woman opened her own office in Valky and scaled up her business through participation in the NIZHNA (Unbreakable Women's Initiative — Persistent and Active) project from "Light of Hope."
We are launching a series of video stories about internally displaced women who won the project and their path of adaptation in host communities.
We bring to your attention the story of Tetyana Kovalenko, created with the technical support of UN Women in Ukraine and funded by the UN Women's Peace and Humanitarian Fund (WPHF), a flexible and operational funding instrument that supports quality activities to enhance the capacity of local women to prevent conflicts, respond to crises and emergencies, and use key peacebuilding opportunities.
