60 pupils and students from local educational institutions joined the activity dedicated to the European Day against Trafficking in Human Beings, which is celebrated on October 18.

Specialists of the NGO "Light of Hope" held a quest for young people, which in a game format allows you to go through risky situations that may arise while traveling or looking for work and lead to falling into a situation of human trafficking. The event took place on the basis of the state educational institution "Hadyatsk Agrarian School".
The teams took turns going through the process of selecting vacancies and arriving at the job site. The situations in the quest were based on real events and the most common tricks used by human traffickers or exploiters.

"The main idea of the quest is to develop practical skills in recognizing dangerous situations and the ability to act safely. We want people to know how to detect deception and where to turn for help. We also work in the format of information sessions. But with this event we attract young people. They are interested in playing, and they perceive information better and remember it," emphasized Tetyana Pitsenko, coordinator of the anti-trafficking department.

At the Final station, each team had a reflection, where the moderator analyzed the most important moments with the participants: where they acted correctly and where they put themselves in danger. The peculiarity of the quest is that the discussion and the experience gained by the participants are more important than the fact of completing the competition itself.

"I liked that there were a lot of activities. And the fact that we called a real hotline. We received important advice about documents," - quest participant Karina.
"It was cool, but we were inattentive. We did everything we were told. And we had to analyze. That's why you shouldn't trust strangers, but check everything," - quest participant Liliya.
"I was convinced that you shouldn't trust people you don't know. And to be careful with documents. It was actually very useful," - quest participant Anastasia.

The event took place within the framework of the project "Ensuring a comprehensive response in Poltava region to protect persons affected by war-related violence, gender-based violence, human trafficking or exploitation", which is implemented by the Light of Hope NGO within the framework of the Protection Program of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) Office in Ukraine, funded by the US Department of State.
